Hidden Gems of Dalmatia
Hidden Gems of Dalmatia
Me and my friends are men who are huge sailing and cruising fans and we love to explore new places every year. We wanted to embark on an adventure and head to a new, exotic destination. What made us opt for this amazing cruise in Dalmatia, was a CNN documentary about sailing and best destinations for cruise holidays. In this show CNN stated that the South Croatian Coast has a wide offer of cruises which would leave all sea lovers completely thrilled. They pretty much had us convinced, so we googled more about Dalmatia and soon we had the plane tickets in our hands and we were off to cruise Dalmatia and explore it's hidden gems.
After arriving to the Zagreb International Airport, we contacted their local travel agency and booked the tickets for what later turned out the be one of the best experiences of our life. It was a five day Dalmatia cruise that started in Split - after having lunch on the boat and enjoying Croatia's local cuisine, we had a chance to see this cultural and economic center of Dalmatia with bunch of modern shops, cafes and art galleries. We visited Diocletian's Palace and enjoyed its marvelous beauty.
We made a small stop in the village Krilo Jesenice, where we had a bus transfer to river Cetina for an amazing rafting! After rafting for about 3-4 hours we had a bus transfer to Makarska where we had our ship waiting for us. We had a free evening but we were so tired from the adventures that all we wanted to do was to have a good night sleep. In the morning we went towards Mljet and had a swimming break on the Peljesac peninsula. We arrived in Mljet in the afternoon and we bought tickets for the National park which included a boat ride to the Island of St. Mary with a monastery built in 12th century. We rented bycucles and explored the Island by ourselves.
In the evening we had an amazing party and so much fun on the boat. After leaving the Island of Mljet, we started cruising to Dubrovnik and had a swimming break along the way. We checked in Gruz harbour and then had a transfer to the old city for a tour along with our guide. We had some free time so we went kayaking and had an amazing experience. We spent the night in Dubrovnik and we fell in love with this beautiful city scattered with historical monuments.
After having breakfast we had another tour and this time we enjoyed the city wals. In the evening we had fun at the "Dos Locos" bar and spent the night in the port Korcula. On our way for the Korcula Island we had a swimming break on "Pakleni otoci". We arrived to Hvar and enjoyed in the city. We had fun in the Kiva Bar, with a laid back atmosphere and cheap drinks and then spent the night in Hvar. World stars: Sharon Stone, Brad Pitt, Steven Spielberg love staying in Hvar and many compare it with Saint-Tropez. After having breakfast we continued our Dalmatia cruise to Bol and had a swimming break on the popular beach "Zlatni rat". We continued to cruise to Omis where we spent the night. We had a chance to get back to the adventures on the river Cetina and this time we opted for zip-line! It was an unforgetable experience. At this point we were so happy that we were in Croatia and that we decided to cruise Dalmatia.
And then it was time to go back to our final destination which was Split. We arrived in the afternoon and enjoyed in the popular "Bacvice" and spent the night in the port Split.
This was for sure one of the best cruises I've ever had in my life and I would recommend everyone to embark in this journey and cruise Dalmatia! The outstanding beauty of Croatian Islands will leave you breathless and make you want to come back for more.

Coastal Croatian cities have one thing in common; they have a heavy Italian influence. You can tell this from their food, romance, their historic buildings and their culture. Split is a heritage site. It is intact and when you walk through this medieval city, you get the feeling of an old-setting movie. It is a city where you cannot get satisfaction staying ... Hvar is one of the best islands to visit in Croatia. I was looking for something different; a cool place away from the masses to enjoy my Hvar discovery tour. The island is full of hidden gems. I visited three lesser known gems that were worth my visit. Though all the places were different, they were all characterized by quietness; there are only a few people ... Continue reading
For a number of years, I have heard too much about Croatia. The country is famed for her warm weather, beautiful mountains, and wonderful islands have always been marketed as the best for any holidaymaker seeking for the finest experience ever. I decided to visit Croatia in June, with a specific interest in the Island Brac, which is not very far from Split. I wanted to take full advantage of the ... Continue reading
Each time we have chosen to visit the Adriatic island of Korcula it becomes more difficult to leave. We always hire from a charter because we are not familiar enough with boating to try it ourselves, but others either bring their own boat or rent one from a charter boat Croatia to use it during their stay. For us the experience of Korcula is like having a tiny slice of Croatia with all of its ... Continue reading
